The KGB Vs Reality

Often I wonder why when faced with government documents derailing commonly held beliefs most people from my generation are unable to grasp the information. This video may explain why four generations have no idea how to deal with new information. Yuri Bezmenov was the KGB agent in charge of dealing with the world media on the Soviet Union. When the Soviets began holding gripers and dissidents in mental hospitals and giving them lobotomies he dressed as a hippie and escaped with hippies in India.

As we now know the KGB paid Mark Lane to do the first JFK conspiracy theory book which launched a industry that still thrives, and KGB agents were awarded the Order Of Lenin medal when they came up with the "AIDS was created at a U.S. military base" conspiracy theory that swept the third world and even tricked people like Frank Zappa. The idea behind these theories was to demoralize Americans to the point that they could no longer tell fact from fiction. I would say, this effort was a tremendous success and its impact continues to wreak havoc with the population. Even when shown the facts, they are too far removed from logic and reason to understand them.

One look at the 911 Truthers, and one realizes that even though the Soviet Union has fallen, those demoralized to the point to think of thier own country as the enemy continue the KGB tradition without them.

The Last Days Of Paul Robeson

Now it can be told. No Communist or socialist will tell you what you are about to read, in fact, they have spent decades covering it up. Funny, isn't it. Socialists who pride themselves at getting to the "root" ie truth of things, cover up the truth when necessary.

Robeson had his passport pulled for years and was restricted in travelling. The Supreme Court ruled this was wrong, and he got his passport back. By this time his health and weight were issues, his final "Peace Arch" concert for Canada had him near collapse after the show.

He took his passport and went to Russia. While there he was invited to a party in his honor by Kruschov supporters. It had been decided that it was time to tell a leading communist sympathizer what Stalin had really done so that the American Communist Party could get an inkling of what they had been supporting. Robeson walked into the room and met with what he thought was going to be ideological comrades. What he got, socialists and communists have hidden for years.

He learned the fate of the Americans who went over in the 30's that he had raised money for and encouraged through the then adult children. He was told of the torturing and killing of people who only wanted to help Stalin. He was told of the massacres of Jews far in excess of Hitler- whole towns when told to round up people to kill would round up Jews first. He was told the reality of what he had supported, and was assured such things were over.

Apparently Robeson tried to argue but as the facts became overwhelming he sat motionless and quiet. There was even a Soviet officer who told of murdering members of the Abraham Lincoln Brigade who openly questioned why Stalin had failed to send planes to help them after promising them, and signed a peace pact with Hitler instead. A fact returning comrades neglected to mention. He was told the dark side of everything he had supported.

He left without saying a word. His entire life that he had struggled so hard to be free in, was a sham. A joke. He had been the lure to lead people to slaughter and less freedom.

That night, he slashed his wrists. He tried to kill himself. He never supported a "progressive" cause again, dying a deeply depressed and lonely life.

The true story of Paul Robeson is the true story of American Communism.

Stalin's Rape Rampage

For the first time a liberal  news service has acknowledged the mass rapes after WW2 in Germany. And we turned East Germany over to Stalin anyway......

On April 27, 1946 Vatican Radio charged that in the Russian occupation zone of Eastern Germany cries of help are going up "from girls and women who are being brutally raped and whose bodily and spiritual health is completely shaken."
The United States and England refused to acknowledge what was happening.

Silence Broken On Red Army Rapes In Germany

The German film A Woman in Berlin — which stars Nina Hoss in the eponymous role — is based on the diary of a German woman who chronicles her struggle to survive war-ravaged Berlin and the repeated sexual assaults by Soviet soldiers in the spring and summer of 1945.

All Things Considered, July 17, 2009 · This week, the American premiere of the German film A Woman in Berlin brings new attention to an issue long considered a taboo in Germany: the mass rape of women by Soviet Red Army soldiers after the fall of Hitler's Third Reich.

The movie is based on the real diary of an anonymous Berlin woman. Historians believe some 2 million German women were raped after Soviet and Allied forces defeated Hitler's army in the spring of 1945.

For decades, German women largely kept quiet about the trauma. Now, a German researcher has embarked on a first-of-its-kind study of German rape victims.

'You Can Never Ever Forget'

After a long silence, 83-year-old Ruth Schumacher decided to tell her story this year. She vividly remembers seeking shelter from the punishing American and Soviet air and artillery strikes. She was just 18 years old when she huddled, wounded, with dozens of other civilians knee deep in cold water in an abandoned mine in Halle-Bruckdorf in eastern Germany.

Schumacher says it wasn't long after the shelling stopped and American forces had moved on that Red Army soldiers began sexually assaulting the town's young women.

"I was immediately gang raped by five Russians. The memories come back to you over and over again; you can never forget something like that. Sometimes after I talk about it, I sleep for a few hours and then wake up crying, screaming. You can never ever forget," she says.

Schumacher has forgotten little in the ensuing 65 years — the faces of her attackers, the pain. Many of her friends were also raped repeatedly. But she says they almost never talked about it.

"I warned a friend not to speak about what happened to her either," Schumacher says. "Nobody talked about that; the danger was too great."

In post-war communist East Germany, Schumacher says she was forced to sign a statement effectively denying the rapes even occurred. In the official narrative of the German Democratic Republic, the Soviets were liberators — not liberators who committed war crimes.

As a result, for many women, political fear and shame — mixed with guilt about Nazi atrocities — created a kind of code of silence.

"I didn't want to know about anybody else's experiences, and they didn't want to know about mine. My conscience was heavy enough. And I didn't want to make it worse. Of course we felt ashamed about what the Nazis had done. But one should never pay back in the same currency, right?" Schumacher says.

Lasting Impact Of Rape Trauma

But some Soviet soldiers saw it as time to pay back what the Germans had done to Soviet citizens with destruction, looting and rape. Historians estimate that at least 2 million German women were raped at the end of World War II. That figure is based on German hospital and abortion clinic records.

Many women, like Schumacher, were raped multiple times. Courts-martial and other records show that there were several hundred documented rapes by U.S. and French soldiers in 1945, but the vast majority of the rapes were carried out by Soviet soldiers in the eastern part of Germany.

Dr. Phillip Kuwert, a senior physician at the University of Greifswald's department of psychotherapy and psychiatry, estimates that about 200,000 children were conceived by native German women raped by Russian soldiers.

So far, Kuwert has interviewed 35 elderly German women who were raped in 1945. The study's main goal is not to offer the victims counseling but to document the long-term impact of rape trauma. Kuwert hopes to finally document these women's stories before all the victims die off.

"They found it very touching, most of them, and important that they get a voice. Even a late voice is better than no voice," he says.

Still, Kuwert chooses his words carefully. Germany has struggled with how to process the Nazis' genocide and terror. And until relatively recently, it was hard for researchers and scientists like Kuwert to look at non-Jewish Germans as victims.

"Before the wartime mass rape in Germany, also the German troops committed a lot of rapes mainly in Eastern Europe. And, of course, there was also a lot of sexualized violence in the concentration camps. I find it very important to mention that, not to come into any kind of doubt that I'm not trying somehow to minimalize the suffering of the people under the German Nazi occupation," he says.

Kuwert says he has received many e-mails from relatives of rape victims saying they wished he had conducted the study years earlier so their mothers and grandmothers might have taken part.

Rape Still A Weapon Of War

The movie A Woman in Berlin, which opens in the U.S. this week in Los Angeles and New York, is based on the diary of an anonymous German journalist. She chronicled her struggle to survive war-ravaged Berlin and the repeated sexual assaults by Soviet soldiers in the spring and summer of 1945.

Actress Nina Hoss plays the movie's lead character.

"The raping continues. They are everywhere, in every home. We service the Russians now. And we women will have to keep silent. Or no man will ever want to touch us again. Wretched Germany!" she says in one scene.

In the movie, Hoss' character seeks protection from a Soviet officer and a complex and strained quasi-relationship develops. Hoss believes the movie's themes resonate today as rape continues to be used as a weapon of war, including in recent conflicts in Bosnia, Rwanda, Congo, Darfur and elsewhere.

"Even nowadays it is still something society doesn't want to know about. So I hope maybe the film changes a little bit the view about this in that women have to be able to talk about it so you can, not forget it you will never forget it, but help ease the pain," she says.

For Survivors, Limited Solace

Back in Ruth Schumacher's small, cramped apartment in Leipzig, the elderly woman shows off pictures of her late husband Kurt. He served on a German U-boat during the war. She had his ashes scattered at sea. Schumacher says she is thankful to finally be able to finally talk about the rape trauma, despite the pain.

"The study has been helpful. But of course it brought back everything. And I've had a lot of sleepless nights because of it," she says.

Schumacher says the rapes left her unable to have children, and now that her husband of 49 years is dead, she has few people around to talk to.

"We didn't marry out of real love," she says, with a hint of sadness. But, she adds, "When I told him 'I'm not pure and innocent anymore', he didn't walk away from me."

How Soviets Recruited Spies

THE ENEMY WITHIN: HOW COMMUNISTS WERE RECRUITED BY THE SOVIET UNION

Excerpts from this artcle:  http://www.johnearlhaynes.org/page58.html

we were in Moscow to examine the long closed records of the Communist International (known as the Comintern) and the files of the CPUSA itself.  What we found there led  to the opening in 1995 of the Venona documents here in the U.S.  Venona consists nearly 5,000 pages of decoded cable traffic between Soviet intelligence officers in the U.S. and some elsewhere with their superiors in Moscow.  At that point  Klehr and I realized that scholars now had available a massive array of documentation on Soviet espionage in the early Cold War.    In addition to Venona and the Moscow archival material, over the last decade a vast accumulation of FBI and U.S. government agency had become available under the Freedom of Information Act or routine retirement of records to the National Archives.  All of this allowed a reappraisal of information that had long been available from court actions and congressional hearings back in the 1940s and 50s.

The result of this reappraisal is this book Venona: Decoding Soviet Espionage in America.  In this book we significantly modified what we had written earlier.  As we determined based in the new evidence that not a “few” as we wrote in 1992, but of hundreds of American Communists had assisted Soviet espionage in the United States, as we read the deciphered messages showing regional CPUSA officials, members of the party’s most powerful body, the Political Bureau, and the very head of the party itself knowingly and purposely assisted Soviet spies, it became crystal clear that espionage was a regular activity of the American Communist party.  To say that the CPUSA was nothing but a Soviet Fifth Column in the Cold War would be an exaggeration; it still remains true that the CPUSA’s chief task was the promotion of communism and the interests of the USSR through political means.  But, it is also emphatically true that in addition to promoting communism through political means, the CPUSA was in addition a Fifth Column in the Soviet Cold War against the United States.

The Main Contours of Soviet Espionage

It is now possible to see that Soviet intelligence operations in the U.S. fell into several different phases.  During the first phase, from the late 1920s through the 1930s, Soviet intelligence emphasized industrial-technical espionage as well as the use of American territory for staging intelligence operations in other nations.  As in other areas, the Soviets relied heavily on ideological sympathy as a source for industrial spies.   In the 1930s Communist party membership became largely native-born, and more educated people joined, including a segment of scientifically and technically-trained professionals.  American Communists regarded the capitalist corporations they worked for as morally illegitimate institutions.  Consequently, when Soviet intelligence officers approached and asked that the scientific secrets of these corporations be shared with the Soviet Union few, none that we know of, had any moral objections.

In the late 1930s and 1940 the KGB also used the U.S. as one of several staging areas for multiple KGB plots to murder exiled Soviet leader Leon Trotsky, then living in Mexico.  Indeed, American Communists played a key role in infiltrating Trotsky’s eventual killer into Trotsky’s household in Mexico City.  American Communists were also central to the KGB efforts, ultimately unsuccessful, to free the murderer from a Mexican prison .

While it was then a secondary concern, in the mid-1930s Soviet intelligence began its first operations aimed at American governmental agencies, particularly the Department of State.    By the end of 1936 at least four mid-level State Department officials were delivering information to Soviet intelligence: Alger Hiss, assistant to Assistant Secretary of State Francis Sayre; Julian Wadleigh, economist in the Trade Agreements Section, Laurence Duggan, Latin American division; and Noel Field, West European division.

The next phase of Soviet espionage came in the early 1940s, after the Nazi attack on the USSR in June 1941 and American entry into the war in December.  The USSR became a major recipient of American military aid and thousands of Soviet military officers and technicians entered the U.S. to assist the aid program.   Scores of Soviet intelligence officers were also among the personnel arriving in America.  With these officers and their American helpers the Soviet Union waged an unrestrained espionage offensive against the United States from 1942  to late 1945.

Soviet recruitment of  sources within American intelligence agencies, particularly within the Office of Strategic Services (OSS), the predecessor to the Central Intelligence Agency was particularly impressive.  The highest ranking of these recruits was Duncan Lee, counsel to General William Donovan, OSS head.  Lee, however, was extremely cautious and less productive than such KGB sources as Maurice Halperin and Donald Wheeler, both in the OSS Research and Analysis division.  There were at least fifteen Soviet agents inside the OSS, with the actual number probably around twenty.

The Soviets also developed about twenty sources within the U.S. State Department and other wartime foreign relations agencies.  The two most senior had first been active in the 1930s,  Alger Hiss and Laurence Duggan.  A number of Soviet spies connected to American diplomacy were identified only by code-names in Venona.  Their real identities were never determined.  They may have continued to spy in the post-war period.   American counter-intelligence officials spent years interviewing and examining the backgrounds of hundreds of American diplomatic personnel trying to attach a real name to the code-names of these people but failed.

The U.S. Treasury hosted nearly a dozen Soviet sources, including one of the most important, Harry White, assistant secretary of the treasury and the second most influential official in the department.  One of White’s contributions to Soviets was that of protecting Soviet espionage networks.  Gregory Silvermaster headed an extremely large Soviet espionage apparatus.  While nominally remaining on the employment rolls of the Farm Security Administration, Silvermaster arranged  in 1942 to be detailed to the Board of Economic Warfare.  The transfer, however, triggered objections from military counter-intelligence that suspected was a hidden Communist and regarded him as a security risk.

Silvermaster denied any Communist links and appealed to Under Secretary of War Robert Patterson to overrule the security officials.  Harry White contacted Patterson and told him that suspicions about Silvermaster were baseless.  Lauchlin Currie, a presidential aide who also cooperated with Soviet intelligence, personally phoned Patterson and urged a reconsideration of Silvermaster’s case.  Patterson chose to trust these highly-placed persons and overruled military counter-intelligence.  His naive decision facilitated the work of a man who headed one of the most productive Soviet espionage rings and provided substance for the postwar Republican charge that high officials in the Roosevelt and Truman administrations aided Soviet espionage against the United States.

One could go on and on listing the many dozens of Americans who knowingly and consciously assisted Soviet espionage in the 1930s and 1940s.   In Venona we concluded that there were more than four hundred.

Soviet intelligence agencies were able to call upon the assistance of these extraordinary numbers of American because during the 1930s and up to 1946, they could rely on the help of the CPUSA.   The American Communist movement was not just a recruiting ground for Soviet intelligence.  It also functioned as an auxiliary to Soviet espionage.  Earl Browder, the general secretary of the CPUSA from 1930 until 1945 supervised his party’s cooperation with the KGB and GRU with the active assistance of a dozen high-level party officials and numerous rank-and-file members.   A 1946 KGB memo gave Browder personal credit for KGB recruitment of eighteen agents, including several highly valuable ones.

Many of the KGB’s sources in this period regarded themselves to be under CPUSA as well as Soviet direction.  In early 1945, Akhmerov, the KGB illegal officer, sent a long cable to Moscow discussing the large Silvermaster apparatus.  Akhmerov noted that “it is doubtful whether ... [the KGB] could get same results as ... [Silvermaster].”   He told Moscow that “it costs ... [Silvermaster] great pains to keep ...  [the American sources] in line.  ... [Silvermaster] being their leader in the CPUSA line helps him give them orders” and added “that our ... [KGB officers] would not manage to work with the same success under the CPUSA flag.”  The productivity of the CPUSA-based networks supervised by Akhmerov is illustrated by KGB records of the numbers of reels of microfilm of U.S. government documents delivered to Moscow via Akhmerov: 59 in 1942, 211 in 1943, 600 in 1944, and 1,896 in 1945.

Hemingway the traitor

Now that it has been revealed that Ernest Hemingway was a KGB spy for a decade (though more eager than effective), a  thought crossed my mind.

Today the fact Jefferson Davis adopted a black child that was put on display by the North and many historians believe executed as Davis was released from jail is gone from history. That Davis opposed Linoln's plan to send all blacks back to Africa and spoke in favor of integrating them into the community has vanished. In fact, Davis himself has been all but wiped out in the re-telling of the Civil War.

Today displays of the Confederate flag can provoke violence, statues of southern generals are being removed. In classrooms all over America teachers tell their students the Confederates were traitors. That is all they need to know.

If Hemingway, I.F. Stone and other spies for Stalin had embraced Hitler or, gasp, the Confederacy there is no question today their work would be buried. Their names no longer spoken, except in derision. There would be no books about them, no movies coming out, their names would not come up in classrooms anymore.

Yet before we knew about them we knew about Paul Robeson. Schools were named after him! Supporting Stalin's show trials, the deaths of 50 million Russians, the disappearence of idealists who travelled to the Soviet Union to help- and were slaughtered by Stalin.... the list goes on and on. Even supporting Hitler and the rounding up of Jews during the Hitler -Stalin peace pact ( which oddly vanished from our history when it was removed from the Soviet Unions) .... Communists have zero to be proud of.

When Robert E. Lee freed his slaves because he said he wanted to have history show he fought for the founding fathers beliefs and not slavery, he had no way of knowing the victors would erase that act from history. But that was hardly treason.

Yet what Hemingway did was not only treason, but he was eager to do it and help destroy this country. He and the others like him, embraced the word with pride. How could you not like Stalin?

Those of us who know the truth about Lincoln, the war and the South often must be silent. Behind closed doors we try to tell our kids the truth, we speak in guarded tones to our friends. Perhaps as they throw rocks at Confederate flags, remove statues and erase history we should ask them what we should do to those who eagerly embraced treason and openly supported ethnic cleansing and genocide.

McCarthy, 911 and the FBI!

In an interview and the following blog excerpt  I stated the lesson of McCarthy was that spies were allowed to stay in our government because the FBI had broken the law and the FBI breaking the law made prosecution of the spies impossible. I said I suspected they still did such tactics which was why the truth about McCarthy had to be known, so that thiis error wasn't repeated In the war on terror.

I wrote:

Despite the onslaught of personal attacks (everything from accusations I don't actually work in Chicago theatre to claims I was CIA- which really makes no sense) my summaries were simple:

                        * Government agencies had no way to get information to each other

                        * Known spies within our government were allowed to stay in due
to  the FBI breaking the law and making prosecution impossible
And I said those problems exist- TODAY.

http://joemcarthytruth.blogdrive.com/archive/27.html

I also concluded my speech with this observation. Now, look at this article:

The recent shooting at the Holocaust Museum serves as a stark reminder to us all that murderous racial and religious hatred still endures in America. One would expect the FBI to infiltrate and prosecute individuals and organizations that threaten domestic terrorist acts. But as this investigative report details, the large FBI bureaucracy, from the bottom to the very top, may well be more concerned with covering up its agents' own illegal misconduct than it is with actually protecting Americans from terrorist attack.

If the leader of the White Supremacist Organization was uncomfortable meeting the brown-skinned supporter of the Islamic terrorist group in Florida, he tried not to show it. After all, the two men had a common agenda, and in the up-coming War Against the Jews, the Islamic Extremist had agreed, "The enemy of my enemy is my friend." It was January 2002 -- a mere four months after 9-11 -- and both men were intent on following up on that deadly terrorist attack with a "summit meeting" to discuss how their respective organizations could cement an alliance to cause more death and destruction in the United States and around the world.

It was the first meeting between the men. To break the ice, the White Supremacist mentioned his admiration for Adolf Hitler. The Islamic Extremist readily agreed that he shared that admiration and looked forward to joining with the White Supremacist in the goal of fomenting civil war in the USA. They both approved of suicide bombings. And they discussed how the White Supremacist Organization could launder money and provide financial assistance to the Islamic Terrorist Organization, which had already received arms shipments from Iran.

Why would the Director of the FBI thwart scrutiny into this strange and deadly incipient partnership between domestic and foreign terrorists? And why would the Director cover up the FBI's refusal to investigate by isolating and punishing Agent German? Was Mueller a racist? An antisemite?

No. Mueller just wanted to protect the common lawlessness practiced everyday at the FBI. And he was willing to sacrifice American lives to do it.

Rehabilitating Stalin

Leonid Khrushchev died a war hero in 1943, 13 years before his father, Nikita, denounced Stalin. Now Russians are being told he was a traitor- but it may just be to rehabilitate Stalin!
